So our third meeting at Dan's was probably the most successful yet with lively discussions, full attendance (no Joe), good (but not too much) food, and homemade ice cream. The interesting thing was that a few of us hadn't actually finished the book by the time of the meeting. One shameless person admitted to not having gotten past page 20 (the gall)! The club was generally incensed but decided not to throw her out.
Notable points of the book were: -complicated but well-choreographed plot
-a lot of sex
-insight into Irving's view on writing
-Marion's breasts
A couple of comments:
"Not as good as A Prayer for Owen Meany"
"How could Marion still had great boobs even at age 76?"
"It didn't lend itself well to a themed dinner, but Dan's Risotto was great nonetheless."
